The Walkmen, "Woe is Me"

Every day, Magnifier selects key tracks from the most innovative and exciting artists for our Song of the Day. All the music on Magnifier can be added to your Music Beta library for free.

While The Strokes and countless other bands from New York’s infamous Class of 2001 have stumbled, The Walkmen remain Gotham’s finest rock act, echoing their debut full-length’s title, Everybody Who Pretended To Like Me Is Gone. This deep cut off new album Lisbon might appear to be another of the band’s patented dejected folk-rock numbers, but rather than wallow in “woe” about a recent break-up, Hamilton Leithauser and group are on the rebound. The song is as light, effervescent and poppy as the ginger ale the song’s protagonist and his new lover sip. -- Andy Beta

The Walkmen are the best for bringing me memories of good times with friends; their sounds is so captivating and the lyrics are well deep-hearted driven!!! Favorite song thus far, "In the New Year."

Yup, excellent choice, this is a solid band. If their hit song "The Rat" doesn't blow your socks off, I don't know what will...

Hello. Sorry to threadjack, but you offer no contact form anywhere on this site. I would like to know how an independent artist like myself would go about delivering my music to Google Music. As Magnifier is a recommendation service, and presumably you accept digital files, you are a more attractive option for an independent artist than Pandora or Spotify. Please contact me at your earliest convenience with details on how I can be a part of Google Music. Again, I want to provide you with my product, I am NOT looking to upload my purchased music collection. Thank you.
