Amy LaVere, "You Can't Keep Me"

Every day, Magnifier selects key tracks from the most innovative and exciting artists for our Song of the Day. All the music on Magnifier can be added to your Music Beta library for free.

Smoky-voiced Americana veteran Amy LaVere explores retro rock’s odd corners on “You Can’t Keep Me,” from her third album Stranger Me. The ethereal pedal steel guitar notes heard on her earlier albums give way to slinky, spy-movie strumming and a giddy girl-group bounce. LaVere’s understated vocals and emotionally complex lyrics are wed to a big, brassy Phil Spector-ish ‘60s pop barrage that sounds like the UK's Camera Obscura with a subtle Southern twist. “Keep” is a rueful, rejected romance anthem with a sweet, danceable beat. -- Lawrence Kay

I second the request to preview music,I won't add to my library without knowing what am adding.

I have to agree here. I was looking everywhere for an option to preview the track before adding it.

+1 to the preview request. I'm sure they're aware of this critical missing feature, and just need voices to make it higher priority. Also a place to officially "Send Feedback" would be useful.

I'm outside USA so can't add musik. But went to YouTube and loved it so much I bought the album on iTunes. Wish there was a way to buy musik without giving all the money to big corp and a few pennies only to the artist. Google can you do something about this?

The music you add goes into an auto playlist called "Free Music" so it's easy to find, listen to, and delete if you don't like it. This song, however, won't disappoint :)

10-30sec preview is not much to ask for. I'm giving up on magnifier for now.
