While this brilliant holiday tune is often taken at a cheery tempo today, it was written for the only downbeat scene in the movie Meet Me In St. Louis (where it causes a small child to break into hysterics and take down a snowman!) and ended up speaking to all the families who were separated at Christmas by World War II.
