Pepper Rabbit: Sweet Sonic Life

Pepper Rabbit started off in a New Orleans studio, but members Xander Singh and Luc Laurent now happily reside in the SoCal sunshine -- when not tirelessly on the road winning over crowds with their exuberant performances. While their name conjures up cutesy spotted bunnies, this avant-indie duo successfully hops along with a range of eclectic instruments (synth keyboards, ukuleles, clarinets), which are looped and overdubbed. Their sophomore release Red Velvet Snowball is a collection of friendly psychedelic pop songs with multiple layers, all twined with sweet and simple melodies. They’re like the talented offspring of Animal Collective’s mad scientists and buy-you-a-round Brit folkies Mumford & Sons. See for yourself by adding exclusive live versions of "Allison" and "Rosemary Stretch" -- from Pepper Rabbit’s recent performance at Google HQ -- to your Music Beta library for free. – Michele Flannery
