One Night in Asheville

Few music scenes over the past decade have been as creatively fruitful or critically acclaimed as the Brooklyn indie scene. Mixing the more baroque elements of Britpop, smeared ‘80s electronica, neo-psychedelia and various post-punk influences, bands such as Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear, Sleigh Bells, and LCD Soundsystem have defined the aesthetic and philosophical vision of indie music. And while their music may be stylistically different, and geography is a bit of a canard, there is both a passion and a spirit that unifies their approach.

"Hex Girlfriend" Neon Indian/Brooklyn Trio Interview

At Moogfest in Asheville, N.C., Magnifier caught up with three musicians working at the vanguard of this community: Alan Palomo from Neon Indian, Chris Taylor from CANT (and Grizzly Bear), and George Lewis Jr. from Twin Shadow. It became immediately obvious that they’re not only fans of each other’s music, as well as collaborators (Taylor produced Twin Shadow’s debut, Forget), they’re close friends. In this exclusive interview, they discuss hearing each other’s music for the first time, as well as their musical crushes and mutual attraction. – Sam Chennault

I love all of these guys and their music. Seriously- collectively, their work has soundtracked the past 3 years of my life.

Nice and weird interview. Just one thing to Mr Taylor. You don't look very smart on alcohol. To not forget that watch this video one a week.
