The Parlotones, "Should We Fight Back?"

The Parlotones, led by the often face-painted Kahn Morbee, are massive stars in their native Johannesburg, South Africa. So massive, in fact, that they release their own wines to commemorate each new single. The most recent was a rosé that marked the release of "We Call This Dancing," an appropriate choice in light of the song's breezy, slightly syrupy lyrics about the transcendent powers of love and revelry. The track "Should We Fight Back" is more of a merlot -- medium-bodied, and safely pleasing to a wide range of palates. The track comes from the Parlotones' most recent studio effort, 2009's Stardust Galaxies, and, like the rest of the album, the song flirts with structural changes and new wave synths before exploding into an anthemic chorus. If you're a fan of acts like The Killers, you'll love the sweeping, arena-ready hooks, and if you catch the subtle references to Nelson Mandela's anti-apartheid tome Long Walk to Freedom, that's just a bonus. -- Arielle Castilla
