Behind the memorably named Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly curtain resides one Sam Duckworth, a bespectacled Eurasian 20-year-old from a sprawling English seaside city. Duckworth does a lot with a trusty guitar, a computer and a full orchestra at his disposal and the songs on his self-titled debut are impressively varied enough to earn him high praise in the often fickle UK press. “Collapsing Cities” hints at Get Cape’s indie folk-pop side before a dance beat and a flood of words recalls Badly Drawn Boy, an early (irony-free) British Beck or a lo-fi Gorillaz.
