Bobbi Humphrey, "Harlem River Drive"

Flutist Bobbi Humphrey recorded this 1973 tribute to Harlem after moving there from her native Texas. Over a restrained groove arranged by famed producer Larry Mizell, and peppered with sounds of a revving engine and spacey ARP synthesizer lines, Humphrey's flute lines are akin to a soft yet insistent summer breeze. "Harlem River Drive" has been a favorite of soul, disco and jazz fans ever since. – Mosi Reeves, Google Play
