M83, "New Map"

M83 evoke the cinema and the church in equal measure. On "New Map," the frantic drum rolls and glassy, swooping synths of the chorus could be a chase scene, or a fast-forward time lapse, while the verses open up Anthony Gonzalez's echoing, emotive wails to some cathedral-like heights. Those open spaces leave you waiting for the rush of the chorus to return, and the song obliges, before trailing out with a soothingly smooth rock coda of woodwind and brass.
