Nobody could mistake 808s & Heartbreak for Kanye West's most consistent project. It's more of a crude experiment in the documentation of a painful breakup. But its highest (and darkest) points, like "See You in My Nightmares," still fascinate. Backed by a stark, minimal synth section, 'Ye and guest Lil Wayne lash out at lost loves in unison, drowning catharsis in a constantly misfiring robotic auto-tune effect. It's as if they intend to simply glitch their pain away. – Andrew Nosnitsky, Google Play
