Every day, Magnifier selects key tracks from the most innovative and exciting artists for our Song of the Day. All the music on Magnifier can be added to your Music Beta library for free.
For a bracing and distended stretch, "Surge" cycles through what comes across as the sounds of things turning on and off. Some of those things might be mechanical, others are definitely digital. Together they split the difference, as per the habit of Brazilian-born, Canada-based breakbeat veteran Amon Tobin. There's not much of a rhythm to follow in the original, but a brooding, methodical beat wanders into the Two Fingers remix (one of the Fingers is Tobin himself), which fills in swells of empty space with bucking, buckling sounds that shake the ground every time they bang. — Andy Battaglia

I'm always open to new music, but this isn't really my cup of tea.
Is there a way to preview the music without having to add it to my Music Beta account
f yes
I agree with Stijn. I don't like it.
Great sounds and rhythms. All told, this release took a little longer for me to get into than Foley Room, but it's a great listen. Looking forward to seeing the live show -- Looks like it's going to be amazing.
ISAM is his masterpiece, but surge is good. I'm surprised to see Amon Tobin here... kind of not really the right place for it if you ask me. Maybe a few new Amon Tobin fans will come from this plug.
I love Amon Tobin !!!
I like! I see this track getting added to my playlist for those long indoor bike trainer rides this winter.
yessss !!!!! i Like
I really like this, great find! Thanks for the free music!
Great :) But you're a bit outdated on his bio. He's not canadian based, he moved to San Francisco more than a year ago.
awwwessommee : ))
awesome tune. can't wait for ISAM live in Vancouver and NYC!!!
In case you are having trouble envisioning atmospheric "found sound," the beast that is ISAM by Amon Tobin is on tour and in art galleries: http://thecreatorsproject.com/creators/amon-tobin
